Dušan is a lively and sharp-witted seven-year-old boy who has just started first grade at “Vuk Karadžić” Primary School in Kraljevo. He says he is excited and happy to go to school. Confidently, he adds that he is not afraid because he prepared well in preschool, learning numbers and letters. We met Dušan when he came with his mother, an older brother, and a younger brother to collect his school starter kit – a gift from LEONI Serbia, where his mother works.
When Dušan opened the package and saw the large, beautiful ergonomic backpack, his eyes lit up:
- I like it so, so much!
This is just one glimpse of the encounters with about 500 children whose parents work in one of LEONI’s four factories in Serbia – in Prokuplje, Malošište, Niš, and Kraljevo. With this initiative, LEONI Serbia supports parents and helps reduce the costs of preparing their youngest schoolchildren for the classroom.
- We believe that today’s first graders will grow into a generation that embraces knowledge with curiosity and then shapes a future where technology goes hand in hand with humanity. As a company, we are proud to share these first important steps in their education together with their parents - says Aleksandar Petrovic, General Manager LEONI Serbia.
Through initiatives like this, LEONI Serbia reaffirms its commitment to corporate social responsibility and to supporting individuals and the communities in which we operate.
