If I want to make someone better, I have to be better too. If I want to teach someone, I have to learn too, and not pretend to be important because I'm in charge.
With this lesson on leadership, Serbian celebrated basketball coach and current national team selector Svetislav Pešić began his one and a half hour lecture held at the LEONI Serbia pant in Niš. The topic was: "Team building, communication, team spirit", and the lecture was organized in order to improve team management skills.
More than a hundred employees of the company LEONI Serbia listened to an inspired presentation about the qualities of a good team leader and learned from the man who led the junior and senior national team of Yugoslavia to the world championship titles, with the national team of Serbia he reached second place in the world and the man who, apart from the SR selection, Yugoslavia (2001) and led the German team to the title of European champion in 1993.
If he did not have the exceptional skill of creating and leading a team, Svetislav Pešić would not have been able to achieve such results, and that is why his presentation was very instructive and useful.
- The most important characteristic of a good leader is to show that he really cares about others. It is important for people who quickly become leaders, by merit of course, but they must not understand that leadership as "now I am in charge of everything", but must show that they genuinely care about people – Pešić marked.
He spoke suggestively, inspiringly, supported by examples, so he received applause on the open stage more than once.
At the beginning of the visit, Country Manager Miloš Manić presented the LEONI Serbia company to Svetislav Pešić, and then the guest was given a tour of the Training center and plant in Niš.
Svetislav Pešić exhaustively answered the questions of the audience, who were interested in what he is guided by when choosing a captain, what is the difference between leading teams in Serbia, Spain and Germany, and how he convinces players to join the team.
He concluded the inspiring lecture with the words: "Discipline is not everything, but without discipline everything is nothing!"
