At the LEONI plants in Niš, Prokuplje and Kraljevo, we hosted 50 girls from rural primary schools to inspire them to step into the world of technology and engineering.
As part of the global initiative "Girls in the ICT Sector", which is implemented in Serbia by the Association of Business Women, the company LEONI Serbia opened the doors of its plants for the second year in a row and hosted a total of 50 girls from rural areas.
7th and 8th grade students from elementary schools from Prokuplje, Niš and Kraljevo visited our plants and had the opportunity to meet female colleagues who build careers in the field of engineering and technology every day.
They met our female engineers, listened to their personal experiences, stories about challenges, support and professional development, as well as how they balance family and business life. The meetings were inspiring, educational and - most importantly - empowering.
We hosted guests in:
📍 LEONI Niš - 20 girls, primary school "Ivan Goran Kovačić" from Niška Banja
📍 LEONI Prokuplje - 6 girls, primary school "Bora Stanković" from Bogojevce near Leskovac
📍 LEONI Kraljevo – 24 girls, elementary school "Dragan Đoković Uča" from Lađevac and elementary school "Dositej Obradović" from Vrba
Meetings in all three plants were hosted by the LEONI Communications team, consisting of Radmila Vesković and Bojana Stamenković, who designed and implemented the entire program of visits.
At LEONI Serbia, we are particularly proud that women make up around 50% of our engineering teams. Through initiatives like these, we want to send a clear message: when girls knock on the door of technology - it's up to us to open it for them.
- We love this action because we know how important it is for girls to see themselves in the world of technology. When we show them that technical professions are not "male" and that success has no gender, we're not just changing perceptions - we're changing the future. Our role is to support, empower and inspire them to choose freely, without the restrictions of gender stereotypes - say members of the LEONI Communications team: Radmila Vesković and Bojana Stamenković.
This year's activities within the "Girls in the ICT sector" campaign showed how important it is for the industry to actively participate in breaking down stereotypes and open the door to equal opportunities for everyone. At LEONI Serbia, we will continue to build bridges between young talents and the world of technology - because we believe that every girl deserves the opportunity to realize her potential.
